Implementation of the BPSD Care programme reduce BPSD in home-dwelling persons with dementia.
A cluster-randomized controlled trial was performed in Tokyo, Japan. One-hundred and forty-one home-dwelling persons with dementia formed an intervention group and was compared with 142 controls. The intervention was based on the BPSD Care programme. There was a significant reducation of challenging behaviour, measured with the Neuropsychiatric Inventory, in the intervention group compared with the control group after 6 months .
